Does Your Podcast Need Reels or TikTok?
Social media is ever-evolving and it can get overwhelming if you try to be across every platform all the time.
Make social media work for your podcast
The way I've approached social media for my podcast The C Word Radio is to stick to 1-2 platforms and focus on building community.
I have been late to the party with Reels but am having a lot of fun making them for my podcast.
Here's what I've learned as a new Reel convert
They're designed to be short - I've found anything from around 8-15sec is a good mark to aim for.
Because they're short you do need to get to grips with making a video, editing, and timing with lip-syncing if you use it.
Are Reels or TikTok right for your podcast?
If you don't like being in front of the camera don't force yourself to use these formats. I am naturally an introvert and it took me a while to warm up to making Reels. I find them fun now because they allow me to express my goofier side to my personality.
My verdict is like any channel it has to work for you and fit who you are and what you want to achieve. You don't have to do every new 'thing'. Especially if including Reels puts unnecessary pressure on you to produce more content.
